About Lou Gale

Lou is happy to have called La Grange home since 2009 and lives there with his wife Kristen and two sons Henry and Jake. Lou has been active in the community since day one and has proudly served on the La Grange Village Board as a Trustee since 2017. In his time on the Board Lou has helped shepherd the Village through the COVID-19 pandemic, strengthened the local economy by supporting a proposal for the La Grange Theater and fought for funding for much needed flooding relief in the community. Lou is proud to say he rarely misses a meeting, has a firm understanding of the Village’s over $40 million budget and is a good steward of the Village’s resources. Lou also thinks it is a priority to have a safe and walkable community for all residents.

Before being elected to local office, Lou served on La Grange’s Community and Economic Commission, the Citizen’s Council of La Grange, and the Lyons Township Community Advisory Counsel (“LTCAC”). Lou is also active locally supporting his sons as they have made their way through Cossitt Elementary School, Park Junior High, and Lyons Township High School. Lou has also worked with the Scouts, local music programs and numerous lacrosse teams. Lou has been known to drive to and from any midwestern state over a weekend for lacrosse tournaments. Lou also supports Kristen in her thriving environmental law practice.

In addition to his community service Lou is a lawyer and General Counsel for the international architectural firm SCB. As General Counsel, Lou provides legal advice and manages nearly every aspect of the firm’s legal needs including contract negotiations, internal presentations, business development and governmental affairs activities. Prior to moving in-house Lou worked in private practice focused on commercial and construction law and also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. Prior to his legal career, Lou worked as a project engineer in Chicago for an international engineering firm and carried a professional engineer’s license.

Personally Lou grew up in Richton Park, IL and graduated from Rich South High School. Lou received his J.D. and a Masters and Bachelors of Science in Engineering from the University of Illinois and is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois.
